Service Issue 15:30 - 16:00

We suffered an intermittent service issue today between 15:30 and 16:00 when one of our webservers encountered a software fault. This fault caused the primary database server to get caught up answering requests from the faulty webserver and unable to process its normal load. As a result some of you would have received very slow or intermittent responses from the server during this time.
Once the webserver was rebooted the service was fully restored.
[edit]Update: Issue started at 15:30, not 15:45 as originally reported.
